Each volume contains Classic Children stories, and in the books for older children, there some of the stories are by famous authors.

Richly Illustrated throughout with color plates and color and monochrome vignettes in text and endpapers.

Dark green cloth covered boards, color pastedowns and gilt lettering on covers. In good condition with unmarked pages. The one exception: One of the volumes has a bookplate in the front, but otherwise there are no marking, tears, or bent down corners.  This set is in remarkable condition, especially when you consider the age of the set and the likely ages of the young readers
